Waltzed into this world deaf and dumb. Got teeth and a serpent tongue
I was a blow in. I had a shoe in to audition for a new part
Waltzed into this world deaf and dumb
It's hard be a god - first you have to live through everyone's life and come out the other side. Here I am
And, as the sun rises, I introduce myself:
What a treat it is to meet. Hello! It's my first day
What a treat it is to meet you. How wonderful it is to know you
What a treat it is to meet me on my first day
When the sun sets on another's life I open my eyes; I come alive
I'm alive!

Death (This Year I Died)

This year I died
My name is nixed (you can have it)
But it's hard to erase your name... Remember when you placed your signature on wet cement? You brushed your jeans to wipe it off before it became concrete
This year I died

I watched a Friesian cow look up toward the sky with nothing much reflected in her eye
Some days I catch the moon hung lonely in the south
Some days I catch it slowly flicker out, thinking: If this is to be the last time I bathe in soft silver light then I'm satisfied
I found a pathway through the untethered kite, floating through the debris of dead satellites (to the galaxies they try to contaminate by shouting his name out into space)
Now I can't shake the feeling that every movement I make is mirrored on some distant planet
